Financial literacy counseling is required before a debit card is issued for all teens ages 13–17.

Ages 13–14:

  • Parent or guardian required as joint owner
  • Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or Passport accepted

Ages 15–17:

  • Parent or guardian optional if teen has a valid, unexpired government-issued ID
  • Required if no ID or if removing a parent/guardian as joint owner (new signature card required)
 
Parent/Guardian Requirements:
  • Must be age 18 or older
  • Must present a valid, unexpired government-issued ID
  • Accounts are opened in the teen’s name as the primary owner (UTMA)
  • Taxes are reported under the teen’s name
  • Teen debit cards can be issued with the teen’s name
  • Adults may request a replacement debit card if lost or stolen
  • Both the teen and adult must be present to close the account, or submit a signed closure form
  • Teen accounts are not eligible for REG E overdraft protection
