Ages 13–14:

  1. Parent or guardian required as joint owner

  2. Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or Passport accepted

Ages 15–17:

  1. Parent or guardian optional if teen has a valid, unexpired government-issued ID

  2. Parent or guardian required only if teen doesn’t have a valid ID

Parent or Guardian Requirements:
  1. Must be age 18 or older

  2. Must present a valid, unexpired government-issued ID

  • Accounts are opened in the teen’s name as the primary owner 
  • Teen debit cards can be issued with the teen’s name
  • Teen accounts are not eligible to opt in to REG E point-of-sale overdrafts

  • Dividends earned are reported under the teen’s SSN
